Welcome
This is the kitchen where we talk about food, life, and recovery—a spiritual path to healing and peace.

Invitation
You are invited to keep coming back to A Cup of Kindness to share your experience, strength and hope; fears, doubts and insecurities; and to pick up information, inspiration … and have a little fun!

My story
In January 2007, at the age of 51, I joined a 12-step program and began my recovery from food addiction, losing 75 pounds in the process. Read more…

In January 2011, at the age of 55, I began my recovery from a multi-trauma accident, 36 fractures, damaged lungs, and post traumatic stress. Read more…

I am deeply grateful for all the kindnesses, large and small, offered to me in recovery. Here I am... alive… still making progress … still not perfect … finding a new way forward in a growing community of women and men who share a lot in common around food and life.

I hope you'll join me in this kitchen and let me know what's cooking with you.

Sips & Tips

Isn’t this photo great? It’s by Dana. See more about her here.

Thanks to those who have made requests and asked questions about how to read my blog, here are some sips of A Cup of Kindness. (I couldn’t resist “sips”, but I really mean tips!)

The URL or address is www.acupofkindness.com.

Under the top banner of photos, you can click on About to find an Invitation, an Offer, our Philosophy, Practice and Action and Who We Are.

On the Food page, you’ll find all the details on How I Eat.

On the Life page, you’ll find more information than you might want to read on the accident that brought new learning to me and a new slant to the blog.

Contact Us is a way to leave a general message for our community or ask me a question.

A Cup of Kindness includes Posts. I write them as often as I have the energy and focus to share my experience and ideas.

You can subscribe to A Cup of Kindness in order to receive email notification when I publish a new post. Look to the left of each page. Under the Welcome, Invitation and my Story, click on Subscribe to A Cup of Kindness by email.

I encourage you to click on “Comments” and the end of each post to see what others are sharing. You will also see comments by clicking on the title of the post which takes you to the permalink page. Scroll down to see the conversation.

The more Comments, the merrier. If you are new to leaving comments here, your first comment will need to be approved by me before it appears. My apologies for any delay. Thereafter, your comments will appear automatically — although I can delete inappropriate comments and spam.

If you want to share a particular post with a friend by email, or reference it on Facebook, or in your own blog, click on the title of the post, then copy and paste the URL (address) into your message.

To refresh, get back to the home page, and see the most recent post first, click on “A Cup of Kindness” which is in script, on the right, at the very top of each page.

On the left of the page, under the Subscription link, there is a Search box. I really don’t know how well it works.

Under the Search box, is a list of Categories. If you want to find all posts with recipes, click on “Recipes”. Ha!

Under Categories is the Blogroll. These are blogs, websites, and links to practitioners of interest to me. When you hover over any of the items on the Blogroll, you will see a few words of what you might find there. When you click on an item in the Blogroll it should open for you in a new page.

The software for A Cup of Kindness is WordPress. The hosting is by WestHost. Heidi Leech built the framework and taught me how to use the blog. Great gratitude and admiration for Heidi!!

Any questions?

Thank you, all. You fill me with what I need.

Love & Light,

Valerie
