Gregory took this photo at the St. Gaudens estate in New Hampshire. Thanks to our niece, Emily, for taking us there.
OK. I can’t help it. I’ve GOT to share this. I tried to resist the urge. No dice. Here goes. Enjoy this interview (in two parts) of Maurice Sendak (Tate family favorite author) by Stephen Colbert (no comment).
Actually, now that I think of it, this does relate to A Cup of Kindness. What could be better food for the soul than a good giggle?

Oh, My! Just watched the first Maurice Sendak interview… very, very funny. I loved to read “Where the Wild Things Are” to my children. Thanks for posting it Valerie.
Hi Michelle, I’m smiling just remembering it. We have a family story about Maurice Sendak. His book Higglety Pigglety Pop was a great favorite when my sister and I were growing up. We used to keep it propped open to a particular drawing depending on the circumstances. The night before my sister married at age 18, she left the book open to the picture of the protagonist leaving home in the middle of the night with a sack on a stick. My mother was so moved that she wrote to Sendak. He wrote back with an original drawing! It’s now framed and displayed in my sister’s NYC apartment. I love to look at it every time I visit. Love & Light, Valerie
What a wonderful story, Valerie!
